About me Timothy
I am a U.S. Citizen, and grew up in northern California. I initially earned a BSC in Natural Resource Conservation, also from UBC (2019). Despite my genuine passion for environmental causes, I discovered a strong affinity for computer programming and working with computers in practical settings.
I served as a GIS research assistant, involving geospatial analysis, for my professor at UBC. I also interned at Western Digital two summers, where I developed statistical models using SAS and Python to quantify errors on the manufacturing line. Our work resulted in the reduction of manufacturing from 19-5%, saving the company millions. I was fascinated by the power of data, the fun I had solving issues.
During Covid lockdown, in between working on a Canadian-government contract with Compugen to assist in the scheduling of Covid vaccines, I worked on various code-based projects, from building a music app to making an Arduino keyboard. In 2021, when the world opened up again, I decided to return to UBC to pursue a computer science degree. I graduate in May, 2024.
Aside from working on the computer, I enjoy playing music (drums), photography, hand-shaping surfboards, hiking, climbing, surfing, and skiing.
